Sofa With Ottoman Chaise – Many armchairs and sofas on the market today offer special accessories such as massagers, chairs and even sunbeds. A chair is a great place to stretch out with a book or take a nap without getting into bed or even leaving your study or living room. Even though you may not be in the market for a new sofa, you may want your couch to have a lounger. If you have one, especially an ottoman storage ottoman with a removable lid, you can use it to create not only a couch on one end of the sofa but a lounger that seems made to measure.
Place the ottoman against the sofa. Align the outer edge of the ottoman with the outer edge of the sofa at one end or the other. Align the back edge of the ottoman with the front edge of the sofa seat. Measure the combined length of the sofa seat and the top of the ottoman. Be sure to lift the cushion on the back of the sofa to expose the entire seat. Add two inches to this length of the seam allowances if you are sewing a cushion.
Create or buy a box mattress that matches or coordinates with the fabric of your sofa. Remove the cushion from the existing sofa seat. Also, remove the top of the ottoman if the ottoman is higher than the sofa seat. Slide the new cushion box into place so that it covers the seat of a sofa and the top ottoman to create a lounger.
