If you have always wanted a folding screen room divider, but thought cost too much, or were too difficult to do, here is an economical alternative. A partition can be made as simple or as ornate as your imagination can take you. Go to yard/garage sales, thrift stores or salvage yards in search of old doors or windows that have two up and down on them or even just a long window. You will need 3, and they have to be made of wood.
When three have been collected; clean, sand, paint and repaint in your choice of colors. It does not matter if all the doors match as to the size of the openings they have. This will add only to interests. When finished with all the openings in all the doors/screens, place the notch you have chosen with a glue gun to cover the staples. Fix the piano hinge, an equal amount of the top and bottom of each door.
There are several ways you could decorate your doors. Cord material, silk fabric, damask, cotton, etc. can be used. You could cross ribbons to make a place to slide into the photos. You could add decorative wood trim to make them more elegant. Instead of laces, you can use a link or rope or cord, depending on the aspect you are trying to achieve.
